The Reviews Are In

June 29th, 2012 by Jay

We are delighted that Guidestones has been received so well by so many gracious reviewers. Here’s a sample of what they’re saying.

“Guidestones promises to raise the bar for the web series genre.” [Jane Doh, Wired]

Guidestones is ultimately the webseries equivalent of a “pageturner”. Like a good book, once you start watching Guidestones, you just can’t stop.” [Anthony Letizia, alterna-TV]

“[The] fact that this is a web series and not an actual feature film boggles my mind. It beats some of the stuff I’ve seen in the theater in recent memory and it’s original and fresh.” [Tracy Ladd, Reel Goddess]

“It is worthwhile to see based solely upon its motion picture quality — it is much better than most of the brain-dead pablum coming out of Hollywood today.” [Van Smith, Van’s Hardware Journal]

Guidestones [is] a really well produced series that is fun as hell to follow, especially if you get into the puzzle solving and investigation on your own.” [Dave Pace, Fangoria]

Guidestones: Season 2 (coming soon)

June 20th, 2012 by Jay

The Independent Production Fund announced this week that they had approved funding for 15 scripted drama series. As you may have guessed, Guidestones was one of them. That’s right, season two is now one step closer to becoming a reality.

With the Rockie Award win at the Banff World Media Festival, the launch of our new website and an on-demand version of the series, and now this, it has been a very exciting couple of weeks. It goes without saying (but we’ll say it anyway) that none of this would be possible without the support of our truly incredible fans. So, on behalf of everyone at Guidestones: thank you.

Keep watching and sharing Guidestones, and we’ll keep you posted on all of the new developments that are surely to come in the weeks and months ahead.

On May 22nd, director Jay Ferguson took the stage at the StoryCode Forum, hosted by the Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York City. StoryCode is “a community hub, lab and creative consultancy for emerging and established cross-platform and immersive storytellers”.

In his presentation, Jay spoke about how Guidestones came to be, and why he and the producers decided that the best way to tell their story was as an interactive, transmedia web thriller.

On-Demand Launch, New Website, Rockie Awards…what a week!

June 14th, 2012 by Jay

It has been an exciting week for Guidestones. On Monday, we celebrated the launch of our new website, as well as a linear, ‘on-demand’ version of the series (which is also available through Hulu) so that our fans can watch Guidestones at their own pace, any time they want. Then, on Tuesday, Guidestones was selected as the winner of the Rockie Award for ‘Best Webseries – Fiction’ at the Banff World Media Festival.

We’re very excited about the increased level of exposure that this achievement has brought to Guidestones, as it means more people will have a chance to ‘decode the conspiracy’. So, please, keep spreading the word, have a look at the new on-demand version of the series, and make sure to ask your friends: “Are you watching Guidestones?”

The Rockies (formally the Banff World Media Awards) are an “internationally-recognized awards program celebrating the very best in international content production in television and digital media.”

Congratulations to Jay Ferguson, Jonas Diamond, and the entire Guidestones team. As well, a big thank-you to the Banff World Media Festival, all the nominees, and Guidestones fans everywhere for watching, producing and celebrating innovative web content!
